Qualifications
- 60 college credit hours, Bachelor's degree preferred
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish, particularly in the areas of Speaking, Reading, and Writing
- Strong communication and public speaking skills
- Ability to work with students and district personnel
Job Functions And Responsibilities
- Outreach to mostly non-English speaking parents regarding student performance including attendance, behavior, academic achievement, health, and medical problems after regular school procedures have been exhausted
- Participate in SST and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings
- Communicate information about conferences and upcoming meetings in Spanish (when general fund translator is unavailable)
- Avoid the identification of new English Language Learners in the district
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned by the Teaching and Learning Department
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to receive and execute instructions, assignments or directions from superiors
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, position statement, meeting summaries, etc., using prescribed formats
- Requires the ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control, and confidence
- Thorough knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling, punctuation and formats required
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and all other statistical measurement tools
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to utilize courtesy and tact when communicating with others to deliver clear and concise messages

Terms Of Employment
- One hundred and Ninety (180) day work year
- Salary based on education and experience pursuant to the Benton Harbor Area School District policies
