Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional – English Language Learners

What You'll Be Doing:

• Aid the teacher with organizational needs in the classroom.
• Support students with lessons and assignments in regular classrooms as assigned.
• Tutor students on lessons as directed by the teacher or instructional coach.
• Develop and prepare various teaching aids.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Occasionally cover classes when the teacher is absent but still within the building.
• Collaborate with the learning team and building staff.
• Safeguard students in hallways, stairwells, and during recess.
• Attend orientation and in-service training sessions.
• Work cooperatively with parents and other classroom volunteers.

Qualifications:

• Completion of sixty (60) college hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (Instructional Paraprofessional qualification).
• Missouri state substitute teacher certification.
• Excellent skills in working with children and their parents.
• A desire to work with elementary grade children.
• Strong dual language speaking/writing skills in Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three (3) years of successful experience working with children and their parents.
• Coursework in childhood education.

Physical Demands:

• The ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers.
• Bend, stoop, lift objects weighing up to ten pounds.
• Visual ability requiring mono and color vision.
