What You'll Be Doing:
- Aid the teacher with organizational needs in the classroom.
- Support students with lessons and assignments in regular classrooms as assigned.
- Tutor students on lessons as directed by the teacher or instructional coach.
- Develop and prepare various teaching aids.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Occasionally cover classes when the teacher is absent but still within the building.
- Collaborate with the learning team and building staff.
- Safeguard students in hallways, stairwells, and during recess.
- Attend orientation and in-service training sessions.
- Work cooperatively with parents and other classroom volunteers.
Qualifications:
- Completion of sixty (60) college hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (Instructional Paraprofessional qualification).
- Missouri state substitute teacher certification.
- Excellent skills in working with children and their parents.
- A desire to work with elementary grade children.
- Strong dual language speaking/writing skills in Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of successful experience working with children and their parents.
- Coursework in childhood education.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers.
- Bend, stoop, lift objects weighing up to ten pounds.
- Visual ability requiring mono and color vision.
