About the role

The Excel Center West is a flexible teaching environment located on the west side of Indianapolis. School hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with Friday being flexible/preparatory days.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and develop The Excel Center curriculum and support student success.
  • Facilitate learning for students, employing a student-centered approach and high-impact instructional practices.
  • Build lessons around student needs, using a variety of teaching methods and online learning tools.
  • Identify and track relevant student/school data to set improvement goals and drive future evaluations.
  • Communicate student progress effectively with students and colleagues, and partner with staff to ensure student success.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performance culture for staff and students.
  • Support student recruitment, enrollment, and post-secondary planning.
  • Participate in professional development, training, and goal-setting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the subject specialty or willingness to obtain an emergency teaching license in Indiana.
  • Current Indiana Teaching Certification in the subject specialty.
  • Employs various teaching strategies and learning styles to engage students.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills.
  • Experience in adult education or non-traditional settings.
  • Working knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, and student information systems.

  • Pass a pre-employment background check.
