English as a Second Language (ESL)

Program Information

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are taught at the MCC-Penn Valley campus. Day and evening classes are available. All instructors have a master's degree. Students have access to a computerized language laboratory, college library and the fitness center.

• What should I do first? Fill out an application for admission and call 816.604.4041 or email pv.esl@mcckc.edu to schedule an appointment to take the ESL placement test.
• Is the TOEFL required to come to MCC? TOEFL is not required for admission.
• Do I need an appointment to test? You will need to contact the ESL department by phone 816.604.4041 or email at pv.esl@mcckc.edu to schedule an appointment for ESL entrance testing.
• How can I register for classes? Contact the ESL department to register for classes. Please see the course schedule above for classes offered.
• What does face-to-face classes mean? Face to face classes will be held in person in classrooms on the MCC-Penn Valley campus.
• What does virtual mean? Virtual learning means: The course will be taught live with students attending via video conferencing (such as Zoom). Classes meet live during the days and times listed in the course schedule. Students will need reliable Internet and computer access.
