English as a New Language Teacher (Temporary - LOA)

About the role

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is seeking a substitute English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to cover a Leave of Absence. The anticipated dates for this temporary assignment are October 12, 2026 through November 13, 2026. The position is based at BOCES as assigned, with travel required between W-FL BOCES sites and the component districts of Newark and Lyons.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction in English language development for multilingual learners.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with students' language proficiency levels and academic needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special area teachers, and support staff to ensure students have access to grade‑level curriculum.
• Assess and monitor student progress in English language acquisition and academic achievement.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation required under New York State regulations.
• Communicate effectively with families, school staff, and community partners to support student success.
• Participate in building and district initiatives, professional learning, and team collaboration.

Requirements

• Valid New York State certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
• Demonstrated knowledge of language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching practices, and differentiated instruction.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to travel between W‑FL BOCES sites and the assigned component districts (Newark, Lyons).

Qualifications

• Experience working with English Language Learners in a K‑12 setting (preferred).
• Experience collaborating in co‑teaching or integrated classroom environments (preferred).
• Familiarity with New York State ENL regulations and assessments (preferred).
• Special Education certification (preferred, but not mandatory).

Pay

$52,341 – $61,805 (prorated)
