Engineering Trades Manager

About the role

The Engineering Trades Manager oversees the daily operations of the Engineering Department at the Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. This position involves leading, mentoring, and supervising engineering trades team members, planning and assigning maintenance tasks, supporting capital improvements, and ensuring safety and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise engineering trades team members to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Plan, assign, and coordinate daily maintenance operations, work orders, and staffing schedules.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and ongoing resort improvement projects.
  • Support capital projects by ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational improvements.
  • Maintain departmental productivity, guest feedback, and work order completion.
  • Manage tools, materials, inventory, vendors, and contractor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other resort departments to support guest satisfaction and operational needs.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with maintenance operations when needed.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a resort, hospitality, commercial, or maintenance environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical education preferred.
  • Trade certifications or licenses in electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or related fields are preferred.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
  • Ability to identify hazards, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
