Description

The Engineering Technologist II supports electric distribution engineering activities by assisting with the design, development, and execution of utility work orders. This role performs technical design work, field evaluations, customer interactions, and project support for distribution system improvements, new service requests, and asset-related projects under the guidance of more senior engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Maximo Work Management System daily for new work orders and updates to existing customer-facing work orders.
  • Affiliate with the development and design of electric distribution work orders.
  • Contact customers via phone, email, or text to address questions, provide updates, and coordinate project activities.
  • Conduct field visits to gather data, evaluate existing infrastructure, and take field notes for design development.
  • Affiliate with the design of new electric service installations for residential and commercial customers, including primary and secondary distribution facilities, in accordance with *** standards.
  • Utilize DesignLite and other company systems to create and modify distribution designs and work orders.
  • Prepare construction and design packages in accordance with company standards and specifications.
  • Provide cost estimates to customers when applicable.
  • Cook up with engineers, project managers, construction personnel, and customers throughout project execution.
  • Monitor active projects and assist in resolving construction-related issues until service is energized and meters are installed.
  • Review project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Adhere to all company safety requirements and utilize required PPE during field activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Affiliate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in electric utility operations, distribution design, drafting, engineering support, construction, or related technical work.
  • Basic understanding of electric distribution systems and utility infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maps, and technical documents.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and technical software systems.
  • Ability to work both in the field and office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior electric utility experience.
  • Exposure to distribution design or utility work order development.
  • Experience supporting customer service or asset replacement projects.
  • Familiarity with Maximo, DesignLite, GIS, CAD, or utility design software.
  • Experience interacting directly with residential or commercial utility customers.

Additional Information

  • Standard schedule is 40 hours per week.
  • During major storm restoration events, candidates may have the opportunity to support damage assessment or scouting efforts, including overtime opportunities.
  • No hands-on electrical construction work is required.
  • Required PPE includes hard hat, EH-rated safety footwear, high-visibility vest, and work gloves as appropriate for field activities.

Pay

$32.00 - $37.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
