About the role

First Division Consulting (FirstDiv) is seeking a highly experienced Engineering Technician VI to provide expert-level technical support for the integration, maintenance, repair, and modernization of United States Marine Corps (USMC) communication systems and equipment. This senior technician will lead or support advanced engineering tasks, including the development, configuration, and troubleshooting of complex communication architectures. The ideal candidate will also contribute to the creation and refinement of technical documentation and provide hands-on technical support in both field and shop environments. This role requires a deep understanding of MIL-STD practices, vehicle integration, and USMC tactical communication platforms.

Responsibilities

• Highly proficient with MIL-STD cable fabrication, including assembly/soldering of communications cabling, RF cabling, power, networking, and other multi-conductor cabling
• Read and understand technical documentation, cable assembly drawings, and schematics for complex or multi-system architecture
• Configure, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of current fielded USMC communications systems
• Apply a solid understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and related codes
• Diagnose and fix electrical issues using strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Apply working knowledge of tactical communications best practices for vehicle integration:
  • Grounding/Bonding
  • Cable management
  • Component installation/removal
  • Electrical safety
  • System Troubleshooting
• Produce and understand technical documents and/or USMC publications, including:
  • Modification Instructions (MIs)
  • Technical Instructions (TIs)
  • Technical Manuals (TMs)
  • Component Parts List / SL-3
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Interface Control Document (ICD)
• Use hand tools and electrical testing instruments safely and effectively, including:
  • Shop hand tools and power tools
  • RF test equipment for maintenance and troubleshooting:
    • Insulation tester resistance meter (Megger)
    • Multi-meter
• Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or formal electronics training from:
  • Technical School, or
  • Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or
  • Four-year electronics apprentice program, or
  • High School diploma or GED
• 12 years (with degree/formal training) or 14 years (with HS/GED) of practical experience, including design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings
• Secret clearance required

Skills

• Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and regulations
• Physical fitness and dexterity for tasks requiring lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
• Close vision abilities for detailed computer work

Desired Skills

• Operational knowledge of USMC voice and data modes of communication, including UHF, VHF, HF, SATCOM, SINCGARS, ANW2
• Operational knowledge of the USMC Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV)
• Experience with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting USMC voice and data radios and vehicular radio configurations, specifically:
  • RT-2034C, AN/VRC-138
  • RT-2060
• Experience with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting Harris RF-7800i Inter Communications Set (ICS)
• Experience with configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of Joint Battle Command - Platform (JBC-P) / Mounted Family of Computer Systems (MFoCS)
• Attended MIL-STD-2003 training and IPC 620 Certified

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision for computer work
• Light to moderate lifting may be required
• Regular, predictable attendance, including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate
