About the Role
The technician will test, troubleshoot, repair, and make design recommendations for electrical and electronic equipment, including reading blueprints, interpreting technical manuals, and supporting shipboard systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform shipboard tag-out procedures and adhere to Naval protocols.
- Maintain safety standards and OSHA compliance.
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, reassemble, and test electrical equipment.
- Work with Navy electrical systems such as switchboards, controls, and distribution panels.
- Use electrical measurement tools and precision instruments.
- Design working diagrams, plan cable runs, and calculate electrical requirements.
Requirements
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
- High school diploma, GED, or military/trade school certification with naval systems knowledge.
- Five years of experience in Navy shipboard electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical components, and blueprint reading.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to pass drug screening.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
- Tools provided by candidate; willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Prior military or maritime industry experience.
- Familiarity with shipboard systems.
