Job Overview
The Engineering Technician provides hands-on technical support to Process Engineers to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role supports production, process improvements, training, and troubleshooting, serving as a key link between engineering and the manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist process engineers with developing and maintaining Standard Operator Procedures (SOP)
- Train all manufacturing technicians and operators on SOP
- Help process engineer training and maintain training matrixes for production line technicians and operators
- Train and test the line technicians and operators routinely to ensure that their skill set qualifications are up to date
- Support Process Engineer for deploying solutions for quality improvement
- Support process engineer in the sustaining and process improvement for all
- First line of defense in resolving operational issues raised by production operators, escalates to engineering if required
- First line of defense to bring up a down tool, escalates to maintenance/engineering if needed
- Affords non-standard Manufacturing walk-in requests
- Provides dispositioning and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area
- Performs Recipe creation and Loading for all Manufacturing processes
- Writes operation/engineering procedures; trains and certifies production operators and junior technicians all processes within Mechanical and Laser Dicing
- Ensures operators run SPC and execute OCAP (out of control action plan) if needed
- Executes Design of Experiment (DOE) provided by Engineering and provides data summary; report to Engineering
- Supports Engineering to do root cause analysis/8D on measurement/inspection escapes
- Analyzes issues and uses judgment to make decisions
- Escalates non-standard problems or issues
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Two - Three years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering support environment (EMS preferred)
- Hands-on experience with production equipment, troubleshooting, and process support
- Familiarity with SPC, DOE, and root cause analysis methodologies
- Experience working with SOPs, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
