About the role
Provides support on Engineering projects to plan, schedule and perform a wide variety of procedures, processes and experiments to test parts, processes, and materials. Works with engineers to develop new methods and implement major projects.
Responsibilities
- Implement data gathering systems.
- Implement data analysis procedures.
- Audit the data gathering and analysis processes.
- Audit process control systems.
- Maintain charting and postings of data collected.
- Provide process improvement plans to engineers and supervisors.
- Design process-related equipment.
- Build or repair process-related fixtures, specialized tools, and equipment.
- Carry out designed experiments.
- Train operators on process-related topics.
- Write work instructions.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend English.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions (used for mechanical design probability, process optimization, risk assessment, prediction).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Ability to use Microsoft applications.
- Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendance policy.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree and/or 6 months to 1 year of training or experience.
- Forklift Certification.
Normal Working Conditions
Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in the performance of the majority of duties. Makes decisions when general instructions, established methods and clearly defined precedents indicate action to be taken, but refers unusual problems to superiors.
- Occasional sitting, walking, driving, reaching above shoulder level, reaching below shoulder level, climbing, balancing, stooping or squatting, crawling, pushing or pulling required.
- Frequent standing, using hands to handle or feel, and talking required.
- Continuous hearing required.
- Occasional work required in areas with loud noise and fumes or airborne particles.
