About the role

The Engineering Technician serves as a critical link between engineering, quality, and production by reviewing and interpreting customer specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. They translate these into clear work instructions, manufacturing process sheets, and shop aids to establish step-by-step guidelines for operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, updates, and maintains shop work instructions, Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS), setup procedures, and shop aids based on customer-provided purchase orders, specifications, drawings, and standards.
  • Conducts peer reviews and verifies engineering process controls to ensure document accuracy before release.
  • Acts as a primary technical resource on the shop floor, providing daily operational support to clarify product requirements, resolve engineering-related inquiries, and coordinate departmental projects.
  • Performs hands-on manufacturing operations, including wire stripping, crimping, soldering, wire bundling, and accessory installation.
  • Operates bench test equipment to verify proper electrical wiring and functionality.
  • Assists with First Article Inspections (FAI), prepares customer qualification processes, and leads root-cause investigations for product failures, warranty claims, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) to verify corrective actions.
  • Supports business operations by evaluating cost and labor hours compared to estimates/quotes, conducting technical research via internet sources and databases, and managing manufacturing data within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret engineering diagrams, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Able to interpret customer specifications and build standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Familiar with electrical assembly practices, processes, and tools.
  • Familiar with Military and Commercial specifications.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Performs tasks with minimal supervision.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 experience.
  • Ability to interface with all departments.
  • Military aviation experience (preferred).
  • Troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • 5 years or more of electrical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
