About the role

SOL Engineering Services, LLC is seeking an Engineering Technician I Laborer to support technical and scientific tasks across various phases of testing. This position involves preparing, conducting tests, and generating reports, often in an office, laboratory, local test area, or remote field site.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment on a limited basis such as backhoes, dozers, front-end loaders, and forklifts (not required but desired).
  • Perform tasks in construction or industrial settings, including light repair and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Load or unload materials and perform site clean-up.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and hazardous materials.
  • Assist with various tasks such as digging trenches, operating hand and power tools, and performing soil and concrete quality control (QC) testing.
  • Place and tie rebar, prepare formwork, place concrete, wet concrete for curing, clean up placement site, and relocate prepared forms.
  • May require strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to accurately gather and reduce technical data, and present it clearly and concisely through verbal and written communication.
  • Work inside and outside, with occasional travel and overtime.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Pass a background investigation (financial and criminal) and apply for and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Good communication skills, flexibility, willingness to learn and be challenged.
  • Strong mathematics skills, surveying experience, and basic understanding of Microsoft Office and other computer programs are desirable.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks up to 20 pounds, lift and move up to 60 pounds, walk and stand for long periods, maneuver in tight or confined areas, and perform strenuous labor in various weather conditions.
  • Previous experience in construction or related fields is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills

  • Basic carpentry and concrete work skills.
  • Familiarity with very high-speed cameras and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
