Engineering Technician I / CAD Drafter

We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Technician to support our Land Development team in preparing civil engineering drawings and construction documents. This position will work closely with engineers and senior CAD staff to develop AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills while assisting with production drafting, plan preparation, document management, and engineering support tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, enjoys working with technology, and has the ability to quickly develop proficiency in drafting software and engineering workflows. Responsibilities Assist with preparing and modifying AutoCAD and Civil 3D drawings for land development projectsDevelop base maps, utility exhibits, grading plans, improvement plans, and other engineering drawings under the direction of project engineersTranslate engineer markups and redlines into accurate construction documentsAssemble drawing packages, exhibits, and PDF plan sets using Bluebeam or similar softwareSupport engineering staff with document organization, file management, and drawing revisionsMaintain drawing standards, layer organization, annotation, and sheet consistencyCoordinate with engineers to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and meet BKF drafting standardsLearn Civil 3D workflows, drafting standards, and engineering design principles through on-the-job trainingAssist with improving drafting efficiency, templates, and production workflows as experience develops Requirements Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, technical certificate, or equivalent amount of professional experience is a must0-3 years of drafting experience with CAD Drafting, preferably civil/infrastructure drawingsStrong computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new softwareExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlinesDemonstrated problem-solving ability and willingness to learn Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations. Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.
