Engineering Technician I (839)

Overview

Duties/ General Functions/Requirements/ Experience/Skills: Provide support to the Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations Division both on the east and west coast. Responsibilities to include boat operations, maintenance on both mechanical and electrical systems. Shipboard support to include knowledge of launching and recovery of small boats. Applicants must be able to perform said duties with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support the Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations Division on both the east and west coast.
• Perform boat operations and maintenance on both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Support shipboard operations, including knowledge of launching and recovering small boats.
• Participate in functions beyond normal operations as part of an established Marine Operations division supporting multiple other systems on a variety of projects nationwide.
• Travel 40-50% of the year, from one to six weeks at a time.
• Operate small boats in both local waters and offshore in the fleet operating areas.
• Work varying hours due to customer requirements, often operating boats at night and leaving shore in the pre-dawn hours.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license, Commercial Driver License.
• Physically capable of transferring between vessels at sea.
• Ability to obtain a passport.
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Minimum general mechanical and boat operations experience as follows: Tech I – 1 Years, Tech II – 3 Years, Tech III – 5 Years, Tech IV – 7 Years, Tech V – 9 Years.
• General knowledge of boat operations, mechanical and electrical operating systems.
• Experience with driving pickup trucks with trailers on the road and in enclosed or limited spaces.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Trade school training a plus.
• Professional certifications/licenses a plus.

Skills

• Good oral and written communication skills.

Security Clearance

• U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance.
• Ability to maintain clearance throughout employment if the position requires a Clearance.

Work Conditions

• Varying working conditions at the main building, including sitting at a desk, submitting data, reports, and completing work orders in a database, and working in various shops such as the Engine & Engine Rebuild Shop, metal shop, wood shop, paint booth, Electrical/Electronic Shop, Micro Mini repair Facility, Target Shop, Trailer Shop, and various administrative/support rooms and warehouse spaces.
• Environmental conditions vary due to the nature of the requirements.
