ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (DRAFTING)

About the role

You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Drafting) in the Design Division, Planning, Design and Construction Directorate of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, solutions and assist the design and/or construction lead engineer on technical issues.
• Support designs for existing facilities requiring extensive alterations, modifications, or repair.
• Provide design and other technical support to NAVFAC MIDLANT and the commands served.
• Prepare technical specifications and detailed labor and material cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding and bid for evaluation.
• Prepare scopes of work and man-hour estimates for in-house work.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Preparation of designs, specifications and cost estimates for a wide range of shore facility projects;
• Designs for facilities requiring extensive alterations, modifications or repair to extend their useful life to meet demands placed upon shore facilities;
• Reviews project plans, specifications and submittals prior to contract aware and during execution for technical soundness, compliance with Navy requirements and to determine practicability from a construction management standpoint.

Schedule

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
