Engineering Technician

Responsibilities

• Support Launch Vehicle Processing of the Artemis Launch Vehicles at Kennedy Space Center.
• Perform flight hardware assembly operations.
• Conduct testing and validations of flight and ground systems.
• Work according to detailed instructions and schematics to perform work in all aspects of flight hardware.
• Participate in training requirements to obtain all necessary certifications to perform assembly work.

Qualifications

• Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience or equivalent technical training.
• Level 2: High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area of expertise and three years related experience.
• Level 3: High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area of expertise and eight years related experience including experience directing other technicians.
• Level 4: High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise and required certifications, 13 years of related experience and technical training and certifications as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.
• Level 5: High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise and required certifications, 18 years of related experience and technical training and certifications as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.
• Level 6: High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise and required certifications, 20 years of related experience and technical training and certifications as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.

Physical Requirement

• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

• May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
• Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
• Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

• Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
• Variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance

• Full-time work hours.
• Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Function

• Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
• In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
• Government security clearance may be required in the future.
• Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits

• This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA).
• In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
