Engineering Technician - Construction Testing

(Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform materials testing and inspection services for commercial construction projects, including testing of concrete during placement and soil during the mass earthwork phase of projects.
• Perform support tests on concrete and soil in the laboratory.
• Participate in sampling and perform field testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt during construction activities.
• Prepare written reports summarizing test results and corresponding action items.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and the design team to report findings, schedule testing, and provide recommendations when needed.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and online safety training courses.
• Pick up test samples that were either previously cast or stockpiled for sampling.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Entry level position, no prior experience is required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
• Physically able to work outdoors and maneuver a wheelbarrow of concrete several times during the course of a day.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in an engineering field (preferred).
• 1+ years experience or engineering background through education (preferred but not required).
• Certifications such as ACI, NICET, or INDOT are welcome but not required.

Pay

Base wage or salary range: $18.50 - $23.00. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Schedule

The bulk of time for this position will be performed between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm, however some early morning assignments should be expected. Additionally, some weekend work should be anticipated, generally 1 Saturday per month. Travel to project sites is required, usually day trips, though some short-term overnight travel is possible.
