About the role
The role involves utilizing in-depth knowledge of testing and evaluation in SSBN engineering/maintenance, providing technical and test planning oversight, and serving as the technical expert in HME testing for availability certification.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical expert in HME testing for availability certification.
- Update the Integrated Work Schedule to accurately reflect testing timelines based on system and/or components for all HME work.
- Have technical and management responsibility for all phases of Extended Refit Period (ERP) work in connection with ship’s force testing of HME equipment for assigned maintenance periods.
- Aid in the development of testing sequence, formal work procedures, and planning, executing, and assessing conventional tests using established criteria.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor test projects which may involve significant timing modifications involving complex end of availability schedule.
- Assist ship’s force with prioritizing testing, resolving conflicts, establishing testing schedules, and briefing the IMF ERP Project Superintendent and Production Managers, ship, etc.
- Review planning documents produced by the Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical/Electronic planning codes for familiarity with all required retests and maintain an up-to-date Testing Matrix.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
- You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential.
- You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This is a Mission Essential position.
- You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to sign DD Form 2365 and must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training which is offered during working hours.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
- Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
- HPR is authorized.
- PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ).
- To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
- ICTAP Applicants: To be considered well-qualified and exercise selection priority as an ICTAP candidate, displaced Federal employees must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a rating in the highly qualified category (score 85) or higher.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing technical engineering techniques to interpret submarine Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) (e.g. trim and drain; hydraulics, high pressure air, emergency/normal blow; list control; torpedo tube; propulsion plant; distilling; electrical generation) systems test requirements, developing HM&E test procedures, and planning HM&E test projects.
