Engineering Technician

About the role
Supports engineering activities such as design, test check-out, modification, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog circuits, digital circuits, and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting. Assists in the design, construction, test, and check-out of test equipment.
Responsibilities
- Fabrication of cables, printed circuit boards, and sub-assemblies
- Assembly and maintenance of test stations
- Soldering, cable fabrication and installation, cabinet/rack assembly
- Troubleshooting and debugging completed assemblies
- Reading electrical schematics and following electrical/mechanical assembly drawings
- Using power tools and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus
- Interacting and communicating with mechanical and electrical engineering staff
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- AAS Degree in electronics engineering technology or military equivalent training (preferred)
- IPC-610 Certified Solderer
- Minimum of 2 years related experience
- Knowledge of in-circuit test systems such as Genrad, HP3070, and Teradyne (beneficial)
- Understanding of UNIX and Windows-based systems (a plus)
