About the role
The Engineering Technician with an Electronics and Instrumentation focus for our Test & Engineering Center (TEC) in Phoenix, AZ will work as part of a team that has broad responsibilities, including preparing for and conducting various testing projects. They will also interface with Project Managers or external clients to provide project updates, assist in defining test protocols, set up, conduct, and document instrumented test programs, process, review, and interpret test data, troubleshoot equipment, and prepare written technical reports.
Responsibilities
- Oversee test projects and interface with Project Managers or external clients to provide project updates
- Aid Project Managers in defining test protocols and recommending appropriate equipment
- Set up, conduct, and document instrumented test programs of all types
- Process, review, and interpret test data
- Troubleshoot equipment and resolve equipment issues in a hands-on environment
- Aid with lab equipment maintenance
- Design basic electronic systems for use in testing
- Serve individually or as a technician team leader in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Prepare written technical reports
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or Engineering Technology in electronics
- Experience conducting hands-on experiments, including test setup, execution, and results analysis
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems and other lab equipment (O-scope, DVM, etc.), and various transducers like pressure sensors, accelerometers, load cells, potentiometers, strain gauges, etc.
- Ability to apply experience in data acquisition and test systems to achieve unique project goals through creativity and critical problem-solving
- Knowledge and interest in automotive systems and electronic devices
- Aptitude for software programming required for interpreting, processing and analyzing acquired test data
- Excellent soldering ability and electronic troubleshooting skills
- Ability to operate common hand and machine tools
- Excellent verbal communications skills and a demonstrated dedication to quality and accuracy
- Must be versatile, team-oriented, and willing to work overtime to meet project deadlines
Qualifications
- Must be a current U.S. resident or citizen
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
Skills
- Software programming for interpreting, processing, and analyzing acquired test data
- Designing basic circuits and interpreting electrical schematics
- Excellent soldering ability and electronic troubleshooting skills
