Engineering Technician
Job Summary
The individual will report to our Engineering Manager and be responsible for providing engineering support to the R&D department. The ideal candidate is responsible for creating 3D CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, jigs/fixtures, test set-ups, conducting tests, and research. The Engineering Technician will also be a key driver of our continuous improvement activities and will be instrumental in improving quality, safety, ergonomics, and efficiency.
Job Duties
- Aid in developing new products.
- Create 3D CAD models.
- Create jigs and fixtures to assist in a variety of manufacturing processes.
- Create manufacturing support materials including drawings, BOMs, routings, work instructions, and shop aids.
- Assist the manufacturing team on the production of "first articles."
- Develop test set-ups and assist in conducting tests.
- Drive UCG House of Quality and Project United Initiatives ensuring that they become part of the team culture.
- Implement continuous improvement projects using KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Builds employee engagement through positive working relationships and promotion of enthusiasm and open atmosphere where employees will want to offer their ideas.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties, projects, and assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Experience and Required Skill:
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology or other equivalent discipline from an accredited university.
- Zero to three years of work-related experience.
- Proficiency in 3D computer aided design software. Experience with Creo is preferred.
- Mastery of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, & Word.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize high value projects.
- Strong hands-on project experience.

- Must have attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.
- Must be a good communicator and motivator. Must be able to follow verbal and written communications/directions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, sit, or walk. Occasionally required to lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs, occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. Regularly required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
