Responsibilities
- Support Research and Development (R&D) testing of custom industrial equipment.
- Perform work in accordance with approved test plans and procedures.
- Document activity sequences on test logs.
- Monitor equipment instrumentation.
- Collect data.
- Write test reports.
- Interface with Facility Managers in support of planning and conducting maintenance outages.
- Lead or participate in Job Hazards Analyses (JHA), safety determinations, and safety inspections required to operate high-temperature and high-pressure systems.
- Aid in component, consumable, and facility purchases to keep equipment in operation.
- Perform calibration routines on equipment and instruments.
- Gather information from engineering drawings, specifications, and datasheets.
- Participate in technical review of design documents and drawings including Process Flow Diagrams, Control/Logic Diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Technical Specifications, analysis, and other design documentation.
- Create and revise operating manuals, test plans, and test procedures.
- Conduct walk-throughs and inspections of equipment and process areas.
- Assemble, install, troubleshoot, test, and repair specialized equipment.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analyses with quality personnel and supporting staff.
- Mechanical Systems
- Provide input on the selection of equipment and components (e.g., valves, pumps, gaskets, insulation, fittings, instrumentation, etc.).
- Conduct leak testing on gas, vacuum, and liquid systems.
- Perform maintenance on industrial equipment.
- Hoist and rig equipment in accordance with approved lift plans.
- Instrumentation & Controls
- Select control systems to automate equipment operations.
- Develop instrumentation plans, wiring diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and logic diagrams.
- Review and provide input to control system narrative documents.
- Lead implementation and updates to data acquisition systems.
- Assemble and wire UL listed AC and DC electrical control panels.
- Program Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Develop and modify Human Machine Interface (HMI) interfaces.
Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Engineering technology or other similar technology fields.
- Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Active DOE “Q” level clearances are strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel to various sites.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
