Engineering Technician, Armtec Defense Technologies Armtec Defense Technologies (Armtec) is an operating unit of the Transdigm Group (NYSE: TDG), an industry leader in aerospace and defense products and services. Armtec is comprised of three business units producing subcomponents for ordnance in Coachella, CA; decoy countermeasure flares in Camden AR; and radar countermeasure chaff in Lillington NC. Industry: Manufacturing Combustible Ordnance and Countermeasures Job Overview Title: Engineering Technician Job Family: Engineering Technician Reports to: Department Manager Works with: mid-level managers and supervisors, employees Location: Coachella, California Type: Full-Time Job Summary The Engineering Technician installs machinery and equipment in an industrial setting, performs machining operations, and oversees the work of outside contractors in various trades. Primary Responsibilities Prototype and implement changes to equipment and facilities to improve performance and reliability. Machine, fabricate, and fasten materials using a diverse range of tools and equipment including welding equipment, lathes, mills, surface grinders, drill presses, CNC machines, and various hand toolsDocument equipment and facilities by taking measurements, operating 3D scanning equipment, and redlining drawings to maintain an accurate record of as-built statusOversee outside contractors to ensure that all work is performed according to Armtec's safety regulations. Track, monitor, and manage workload and provide updates as needed to ensure timely completion of tasksPerform pilot-scale production operations and provide feedback on effectivenessCollaborate with engineers, designers, and technicians to implement and improve designs and processesMaintain detailed records of experiments, results, procedures, and observations, and prepare technical reportsAssist engineers in developing, installing, and maintaining equipment, systems, or prototypesBuild, calibrate, and test mechanical, electrical, or electronic components to ensure functionalityPrepare materials, reagents, and samples to meet quality standardsMaintain and improve cleanliness of work areasConduct laboratory experiments, simulations, and tests to validate hypotheses or prototype performanceUse Management of Change (MOC) processes to review engineering changes for safety, quality, and production impactsInstall equipment and tooling, ensuring that all work is done in compliance with safety standards. Uphold the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from aboveUnderstand and abide by Armtec's ethics and business conduct policiesPerform other related duties as required Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training is a plus.
