Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description The Engineering Technician performs instrumented testing using established procedures to verify machine and component performance against product specifications. This role supports advanced engineering projects by setting up, executing, and documenting tests, while working closely with engineers and technicians in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Responsibilities Set up tests, including designing and assembling fixtures, performing part modifications, installing required instrumentation, and configuring overall test setups.Execute tests using both computer-controlled systems and mechanical control systems to evaluate machine and component performance.Collect, record, and organize test data using digital and analog measurement systems to ensure accurate and reliable results.Collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to communicate test progress, identify and report issues, and summarize test results.Perform test teardown, including disassembling fixtures, cleaning work areas, and resetting equipment to a safe and ready state for future use.Troubleshoot test setups, equipment, and systems to resolve issues and maintain test integrity.Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to properly configure tests and understand system operation.Apply mechanical and electronics knowledge to operate test equipment and support engineering test activities.Work independently with general guidance from management and team members to complete assigned test tasks and projects.Follow established safety procedures when using power tools, metalworking equipment, and lifting or moving components up to 50 lbs. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with power tools and metalworking equipment.Basic understanding of mechanical systems.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in engineering and test environments.Ability to work independently with general guidance from management and team members.Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with engineers and technicians and documenting test results.Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.Experience working with engineering test equipment, electronics, and mechanical systems.Ability to use both digital and analog measurement systems for data collection. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience in engineering, electronics, or mechanical technology.Working knowledge of refrigeration systems and components.Basic understanding of heat transfer principles.Basic understanding of electrical systems and PLC programming.Experience with automation, robotics, controls, software, manufacturing, or product development environments.Ability to interpret and apply engineering schematics and technical documentation in practical test setups.Interest in building relationships with engineers, technical leaders, and cross-functional teams.Motivation to develop highly marketable skills through exposure to large-scale processes, systems, and advanced engineering projects. Work Environment This is a full-time, onsite position working approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The majority of the time is spent on the floor in a hands-on environment, setting up and running tests on industry-leading equipment and advanced engineering systems. You will work with cutting-edge technologies in automation, robotics, controls, software, manufacturing, and product development, using a variety of mechanical and electronic test equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Coal Valley, IL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
