Engineering Technician

About the role

The Engineering Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of advanced nitrogen dioxide sterilization systems used in pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing. This position supports Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Service by ensuring equipment is built and maintained to the highest standards of quality and reliability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting industrial automation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electrical components for sterilization systems
• Install pneumatic, electrical, and fluid handling components
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions
• Perform equipment checkout and functional testing
• Support prototype builds and engineering development projects
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system issues
• Troubleshoot motors, sensors, valves, power supplies, relays, and instrumentation
• Repair production equipment and customer systems
• Replace defective components and verify proper operation
• Perform root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on sterilization equipment
• Maintain calibration of instruments and sensors
• Document maintenance activities
• Assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures
• Install and commission sterilization systems at customer facilities
• Perform site acceptance testing
• Train customer personnel on equipment operation and routine maintenance
• Respond to customer service requests
• Travel to customer sites as required (approximately 20–30%)
• Assist engineers with prototype testing and design verification
• Collect test data and prepare reports
• Recommend product improvements based on field experience
• Support validation and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ)
