About the role
Dominion Energy South Carolina has an Engineering Technical Consultant vacancy in Cayce, SC. This position serves as a technical subject matter expert on steam turbine operations and is responsible for project management activities, including:
- Managing outage and overhaul projects of steam turbines/generators and associated equipment (turbine valves, boiler feed pump turbines, electro-hydraulic control, and lube oil systems) from design to implementation, testing, and completion.
- Identifying key barriers and issues, researching and evaluating complex problems, and developing sound business solutions.
- Conducting on-site inspections to ensure work quality and safety, troubleshooting complex issues, and escalating concerns to management as needed.
- Assessing turbine/generator personnel skills and developing training to maintain a highly skilled workforce.
- Providing technical and field support during major outages and overhauls to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Auditing, inspecting, and documenting activities for compliance with steam turbine/generator programs, including QA/QC needs.
- Overseeing testing, repairs, and routine maintenance to ensure high-quality work and resolve issues.
- Leading pre-outage planning, including researching prior outages, developing inspection lists, documenting lessons learned, creating project plans, ordering parts, and collaborating with engineering and plant personnel.
- Developing and maintaining a central repository of all Steam Turbine/Generator documentation within the Power Generation fleet.
Requirements
The following qualifications are required for entry into this role:
- 7-8+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated competencies in the applicable discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry codes, government regulations, and company policies.
- Expertise in the design and operation of complex systems and equipment.
- Ability to apply advanced engineering tools and techniques to solve complex problems.
- Strong oral, written, and graphical communication skills, including technical writing.
- Ability to conduct tests, measurements, and experiments, and analyze results to improve processes.
- Effective working independently or in a team environment.
- Excellent organization, project management, and evaluation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software programs.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Analytical and abstract thinking skills to resolve problems quickly.
Qualifications
To be titled as an Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering, or another technical discipline; or
- 4-year non-technical degree and a post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Pay
Expected hiring base salary range: $102,300 – $132,800. The actual salary offered may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
