About the role

Join the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) as an Engineering Technical Associate. This role involves capital construction project management, facility and infrastructure maintenance, and enhancing public access to outdoor recreational opportunities statewide. Statewide travel with limited overnight stays is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital construction projects as an owner’s project manager, from planning and design through execution and closeout.
  • Oversee the maintenance of facilities and infrastructure statewide.
  • Respond to internal staff requests for facility and infrastructure upgrades by providing technical expertise, performing hands-on work, and managing contracted services.
  • Assist internal staff on projects that enhance public access to hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and boating opportunities statewide.
  • Coordinate and participate in special engineering and construction projects and events for KDFWR as directed.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a college or university with a curriculum approved by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • Experience, Training, or Skills: Four years of engineering-related experience.
  • Substitute Education for Experience: Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors substitutes for one year of required experience.
  • Substitute Experience for Education: Four years of engineering and/or construction-related experience substitutes for the required bachelor's degree.

Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in offices and outdoors on construction and maintenance projects.
  • Exposure to heavy construction equipment and all weather conditions.
  • Frequent travel to construction sites.

Pay

$47,531.28 - $71,298.00 annually.

Schedule

37.5 hours per week. Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
