Engineering Team Leader
About the role
This Engineering Team Leader position within the Buildings team at Garver is responsible for building and leading a multi-discipline engineering team that supports architectural clients. The role also includes developing regional architectural firms as Garver and Buildings Team clients, providing engineering support for architectural clients particularly in structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, and managing projects.
Responsibilities
- Building and leading a multi-discipline engineering team that supports architectural clients.
- Developing regional architectural firms as Garver and Buildings Team clients.
- Providing engineering support for architectural clients particularly structural, mechanical, and electrical.
- Managing projects and providing discipline specific design.
- Coordination with other internal teams across Garver’s regional footprint.
- Travel required depending on client and project location.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architectural engineering with a structural, mechanical, or electrical focus from an ABET-accredited university or college.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
- 5 to 15 years of building design and construction industry experience.
- Experience working directly for architectural clients and managing the engineering aspects of a building design project.
- Experience in client relations and project pursuits.
- Knowledge of building components and systems.
- Knowledge of engineering and sustainability principles.
- Utilizing CAD and BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Be responsible for time management and product quality.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date project accounting on all assigned projects.
- Develop and follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans.
- Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as the overall needs of the team.
Qualifications
- Ability to build and lead a multi-discipline engineering team.
- Experience in client relations and project pursuits.
- Proven experience overseeing designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
- Tech competence in building system designs.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
Skills
- Discipline specific building design experience – structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering design related to buildings.
- Knowledge of building components and systems.
- Knowledge of engineering and sustainability principles.
- Utilizing CAD and BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
