About the role

The Team Leader, Land Development position at Halff is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with at least 10 years of progressive experience in land development projects. The role includes leading a team, managing projects, and pursuing new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to the Land Development Team.
  • Lead civil design and production staff in planning, design, and execution of land development projects of moderate to advanced size and complexity.
  • Make decisions independently and resolve complex problems.
  • Manage direct reports.
  • Be responsible for business development and manage budgets, personnel, schedules, sub consultants, and client interactions.
  • Support operations managers and practice leaders in business development and pursuit of Land Development opportunities.
  • Team performance (production, profitability, quality, staffing, etc.).
  • Maintain and further develop client relationships throughout the Austin Metro and beyond.
  • Identify business opportunities and lead the successful pursuit of land development design projects.
  • Directly manage projects and oversee project managers on various projects.
  • Work closely with other Halff leaders and manage resources to successfully workshare across the company on multiple projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience to support Land Development projects including residential planning, design, and construction.
  • Management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Texas.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success.

  • Knowledgeable in-house staff for land and site development projects.
  • QA/QC Program for high-quality deliverables meeting client expectations.
  • Landscape architects as valuable resources.
