Engineering Support Supervisor
Job Summary
The Engineering Support Supervisor is responsible for the operational oversight, maintenance, and strategic expansion of our 40+ high-power test cells and motor generator assets. You will ensure 98%+ asset availability, maintaining strict building code and EHS compliance, and aligning facility capabilities with our long-term product development roadmaps. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical troubleshooting, strategic resource allocation, and expert subcontractor management in addition to managing a team of direct reports.
People Leadership
- Hiring and training of Engineering Technicians
- Employee engagement and performance management
Operations & Maintenance
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Daily, monthly, and annual preventative and corrective maintenance for 40 test cells and complex motor generators
- Infrastructure Reliability: Conduct FMEA on critical infrastructure to identify risks and implement improvements, targeting 98% uptime during burn-in phases
- Environmental Control: Monitor and optimize cooling system performance daily to support high-intensity testing schedules
- Inventory Control: Manage high-stakes spare parts inventory, including motor generators (MG), load banks, and industrial fuses
Engineering & Upgrades
- Management of Change (MOC): Lead MOC processes in partnership with EHS and Facilities to ensure all cell upgrades meet strict building codes and safety standards
- Facility Design: Collaborate with architects and Facility Managers to design and execute facility upgrades and new capability installations
- Project Supervision: Manage on-site contractors daily to ensure repair and installation projects are completed safely and on schedule
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
- Budget Management: Oversee budgets, cost performance, and project schedules to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining alignment with business objectives
- Roadmap Alignment: Partner with Technical Directors to ensure facility capability roadmaps are synchronized with the 5-year product development cycle
- Resource Allocation: Coordinate with Operations twice daily to prioritize test cell resources and align facility assets with program deadlines
- Access & Security: Oversee laboratory access control and daily safety compliance audits to maintain a secure, high-performance environment
Education & Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience
- Previous leadership experience in a test facility or lab environment preferred
- Deep knowledge of motor generators, load banks, cooling systems, and high-voltage electrical infrastructure
- Proven experience with EHS standards, Management of Change (MOC) protocols, and local building codes
- Strong background in supervising contractors and working with architectural design teams
- Proficiency in conducting FMEA and using data to drive asset availability and efficiency
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
