About the role
The Engineering Specialist I – Product Compliance provides regulatory compliance support to engineering development projects, existing product changes throughout the product life cycle, and interfaces with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement), sourcing, quality, service, and marketing to assure ongoing product content compliance and distribution control.
Responsibilities
- Follow compliance procedures and systems for applicable certifications and product types.
- Support in reviewing and meeting new and existing product compliance requirements.
- Support team members to ensure compliance requirements are defined in formal documentation such as Product Requirements Specifications, Bills of Material, Compliance Procedures, Engineering Design/Material Specifications, and similar documentation.
- Take direction on the regulatory landscape for newly developing and/or revised standards from senior staff.
- Engage with appropriate industry and regulatory organizations/associations representing Generac Power Systems.
- Support the preparation and submission of documentation for certification applications and renewals.
- With direction, work with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and testing laboratories to secure and maintain product certifications.
- Maintain certification schedules, reports, and records.
- Support internal and external audits related to product compliance and certification.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to conduct analysis of existing regulation data.
- Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Product Regulatory Compliance experience with US, Canadian, and Global regulations.
- Experience with consumer product compliance.
- Experience in an office environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Regularly required to talk and hear; use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
- Regularly required to stand and walk.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
- Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Typical conditions include frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasional travel required.
