About the role
The Engineering Specialist plays a central role in ensuring efficient and effective coordination of Right-of-Way permits and construction plans within the City of Flagstaff.
Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Captures, files, and archives all construction plans, as-built plans, and property dedications related to public improvements.
- Coordinates with City of Flagstaff GIS to ensure all documents are transferred to GIS.
- Processes Right-of-Way permits.
- Supports development engineering-related public records requests with the City Records Coordinator.
- Conducts basic and well-defined reviews of building permit applications for engineering/public improvement-related items.
- Collaborates with City of Flagstaff Finance to provide data for the Fixed Asset Report.
- Performs simple drafting tasks, including data reduction and drawing generation.
- Assists the Traffic Section with reviews, research, and field traffic counter layouts.
- Fulfills administrative duties as assigned to support the Development Engineering Section.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Two-year certificate from college or technical school in an engineering, construction, GIS, or survey-related discipline.
- Two years (2) of experience using computers, including CAD, GIS, and/or construction/engineering permitting systems and processes.
- Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Other Requirements
- Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
