Engineering Specialist-Development Engineering

About the role

The Engineering Specialist plays a central role in ensuring efficient and effective coordination of Right-of-Way permits and construction plans within the City of Flagstaff.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Captures, files, and archives all construction plans, as-built plans, and property dedications related to public improvements.
• Coordinates with City of Flagstaff GIS to ensure all documents are transferred to GIS.
• Processes Right-of-Way permits.
• Supports development engineering-related public records requests with the City Records Coordinator.
• Conducts basic and well-defined reviews of building permit applications for engineering/public improvement-related items.
• Collaborates with City of Flagstaff Finance to provide data for the Fixed Asset Report.
• Performs simple drafting tasks, including data reduction and drawing generation.
• Assists the Traffic Section with reviews, research, and field traffic counter layouts.
• Fulfills administrative duties as assigned to support the Development Engineering Section.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Two-year certificate from college or technical school in an engineering, construction, GIS, or survey-related discipline.
• Two years (2) of experience using computers, including CAD, GIS, and/or construction/engineering permitting systems and processes.
• Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Other Requirements

• Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
