Engineering Operation Technician, DCC Communities

Join a dynamic team as a Data Center Engineering Technician and become a critical guardian of technological infrastructure. You will maintain the heartbeat of mission‑critical technology infrastructure, contributing to an extraordinary 99.999% uptime. The role involves hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of Data Center Operation’s Mission Critical Facilities, including standby diesel generators, fuel systems, three‑phase electrical systems (switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries), CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Execute rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Produce technical documentation to support change‑management programs.
• Monitor daily work requests, manage them to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
• Adapt work schedule to site needs, including shifts up to 12 hours, rotating schedules, and on‑call rotations where applicable.
• Support multiple locations/sites as required.

Physical Requirements

Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in the following physical conditions (reasonable accommodations provided):

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 lb independently; participate in group lifts for 40 lb+.
• Maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder.
• Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects into position.
• Work in an environment requiring provided ear protection.

Essential Requirements

• Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
• Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility is operational.
• Travel frequency varies based on business needs; candidates must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 2+ years of electrical facilities maintenance combined with 1+ year of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Pay

Hourly rates vary by location:

• Canton, MS: $33.89 – $59.32
• Jeffersonville, OH: $37.64 – $65.91
• Boardman, OR: $37.64 – $65.91
• Hermiston, OR: $37.64 – $65.91
• Wink, TX: $37.64 – $65.91
• Ashburn, VA: $37.64 – $65.91
• Chantilly, VA: $37.64 – $65.91

Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs); final amounts are determined by experience, qualifications, and location.

Schedule

Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on‑call rotations. The role may support more than one site, requiring flexibility in work hours.
