AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

About the role

Engineering Technicians are Amazon’s front line for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Data Center Operation’s Mission Critical Facilities, including stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, as well as three-phase electrical systems such as switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, wet cell batteries, CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availability.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLA.
• Perform preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Technical writing to support the change management program.
• Monitor daily work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on-site support for contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring all work aligns with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.

Work schedule changes depending on site needs. Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations. The role may support more than one location/site.

Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• 2+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 2+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 1+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience (preferred).
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• Vocational/technical training or an associate degree or above, or 4+ years of military experience (preferred).

Pay

Base salary range: $37.64 - $65.91 USD hourly (USA, GA, Covington). Your package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.

A lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position. Amazon does not sponsor immigration, including H-1B, TN, and other non-immigrant visas, for this role.
