Engineering (Materials) Planner I / II

Position Summary
Engineering Planners manage New Product Introduction (NPI) scheduling and release processes required to successfully design, build, and transfer new products from Advanced Energy’s global design centers into manufacturing. This role partners closely with development teams to ensure all NPI deliverables are met and serves as a key liaison between R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Quality to coordinate product schedules.
Responsibilities
- Cook up production plans for new products, ensuring material availability to meet project timelines
- Manage on-time delivery performance against committed ship dates
- Identify and resolve capacity constraints, material shortages, and schedule risks
- Approve unit quantities, schedules, and parts lists for material control to ensure timely procurement and production readiness
- Manage and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for NPI programs
- Partner with engineering to create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP
- Coordinate the release of parts, modules, and units into production
- Create and manage work orders, purchase requests, and internal transfer orders
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, and materials management processes
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred) and standard business tools (Excel, databases, etc.)
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement solutions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience
- Engineering Planner I: Typically 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, planning, scheduling, or a related field; foundational knowledge of manufacturing planning and MRP/ERP systems
- Engineering Planner II: Typically 3–5+ years of relevant experience in planning, scheduling, or supply chain; proven track record of increasing responsibility and success in a fast-paced environment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field required
- APICS, CPM, or similar certification preferred
Compensation
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $50,000 to $80,000 per year.
