Job Summary
The Engineering Manager oversees facility maintenance and equipment at Faraway Sag Harbor. This role includes managing repairs, scheduling, inventory, safety, and coordinating logistics.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Manages preventative facility maintenance and repairs, including interior and exterior of all properties.
- Creates and manages scheduling, approves timesheets for the engineering team.
- Aids in inventory ordering and management, ensuring best prices and purchasing decisions.
- Manages vendor list and ordering guides, updates regularly.
- Manages all relevant permits for each property.
- Leads positively while multitasking and prioritizing workloads.
- Develops and communicates a plan for seasonal openings and closures.
- Coordinates logistics on Sag Harbor, including moving equipment and inventory.
- Adheres to budgets to ensure proper accounting for repairs, service, and maintenance.
- Negotiates and solicits new contracts to decrease costs and increase efficiency.
- Manages the development of the engineering team, including training and recruitment.
- Ensures engineering team uses appropriate PPE and conducts safety training.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations, including security of guest rooms and property access/perimeter.
- Responds to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Advices Hotel and Restaurant leadership on technical engineering issues.
- Manages ongoing project management and performs regular property inspections.
- Facilitates facility oversight for employee housing.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or facilities management preferred. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Experience: 5+ years of hospitality or facilities engineering experience; multi-property experience a plus. Experience with new builds and renovation projects. In-depth working knowledge of hospitality. Experience with pool and aquatics operations, including water chemistry, filtration systems, and applicable health-code compliance.
- Technical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Strong interpersonal, communication, and people skills. Professional and confident verbal and written communication with guests, employees, and ownership. Clear understanding of the English language and Spanish language (verbal and written). Expert utilization of mechanical tools and equipment. Familiarity with OSHA standards. Time management skills. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand up to 8 hours per shift.
