About the role
The Distribution Engineering Manager is responsible for providing direction, coaching, supervision, and mentoring to a team of professional and technical staff within the Distribution Line Engineering Department.
Responsibilities
- Supervises a group of engineers, designers, drafters, and project support coordinators to successfully deliver Distribution line projects.
- Administers performance reviews and staff evaluations for direct reports.
- Directs and oversees work of Design and Planning Engineers:
- Conceptual routes, layouts, preliminary and detailed designs, and specifications for distribution lines.
- Construction Sketches, Plan and profile sheets, staking sheets, bills of materials, and permit drawings.
- Pole loading drawings, framing drawings, and construction drawings.
- Pole Loading, Cable Pulling, and other design calculations.
- As-built revisions.
- Distribution System Planning projects, including construction work plan and long-range plan development.
- Distribution System Protection projects, including coordination studies and relay settings development.
- Maintains and develops a strong professional network of existing and potential customers, especially municipal and electric cooperative utilities in the state of Florida.
- Travels to client sites/field/vendor facilities as needed.
- Performs quality reviews of engineering work for both internal assets and sub-contractors on assigned projects.
- Manages the development of project proposals, bid preparation, project schedules, bill of materials, etc. for assigned projects.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET-accredited university. PE Required, 2 Yr Addtl. Exp Accepted in Lieu of.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of Distribution line design and other related project execution experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in the management and development of multi-discipline engineering personnel including the delegation of workloads, directing others, and planning of Distribution Line projects.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
