Location: Maryland Heights, MO Job Type: Full-time, in-office Compensation: Starting at $125,000 annually plus annual incentive opportunity. Actual starting pay will be based on experience, skills, and overall qualifications. About The Role We are seeking an Engineering Manager, New Product Development to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for developing innovative embedded control products and systems. This role provides both technical leadership and people leadership, guiding product development efforts from concept through production launch. The Engineering Manager will oversee Mechanical, Firmware, Electronic Hardware, and Electrical Engineers while partnering closely with Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations teams. This position is ideal for a leader who enjoys developing talent, solving complex technical challenges, and bringing new products to market. What You'll Do Engineering Leadership and Team Development Lead and manage a cross-functional engineering team including Mechanical, Firmware, Electronic Hardware, and Electrical EngineersProvide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team membersEstablish team objectives and individual goals aligned with company prioritiesSupport recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention effortsFoster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement New Product Development Lead the development of embedded control products from concept through commercializationGuide system architecture, design decisions, and technical trade-off evaluationsCoordinate activities across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated product solutionsEnsure projects meet performance, quality, reliability, safety, cost, and manufacturability requirementsPartner with Marketing to translate customer and market needs into technical requirements Project and Resource Management Manage engineering resources, priorities, and schedules across multiple development programsCollaborate with the Project Manager to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and properly staffedSupport project planning, risk management, and milestone executionBalance short-term priorities with long-term product development objectivesDrive accountability for project deliverables and technical outcomes Technical Excellence and Process Improvement Establish and maintain engineering processes, standards, and best practicesLead design reviews, code reviews, verification activities, and risk management effortsImplement Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and DFMEA methodologiesIdentify opportunities to improve development efficiency, engineering productivity, and product qualityEvaluate and implement technologies that support product development and laboratory capabilities Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Production to support product launches and production readinessPartner with Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure successful product commercializationEngage with customers, suppliers, and external partners to address technical challenges and support development initiativesPromote strong communication and alignment across functions throughout the product lifecycle Travel Minimal travel may be required occasionally Qualifications What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field10 or more years of engineering experience in embedded systems, controls, electronic hardware, firmware, or electromechanical product development5 or more years of engineering leadership experience with direct people management responsibilitiesProven success leading new product development projects from concept through production releaseStrong knowledge of embedded control systems, microcontrollers, electronic hardware design, firmware development, and system integrationExperience managing cross-functional engineering teams and multiple concurrent projectsStrong project planning, resource management, budgeting, and risk management skillsExcellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business AdministrationKnowledge of systems engineering methodologies and requirements management practicesExperience with communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, Bluetooth, or Wi-FiFamiliarity with PCB development, sensor integration, and control systemsExperience with Product Lifecycle Management systems and development toolsKnowledge of Agile, Stage-Gate, or hybrid product development methodologiesFamiliarity with regulatory and compliance requirements for embedded electronic productsLean product development and continuous improvement experienceExperience implementing and maintaining data acquisition systems Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computerAbility to work in office, laboratory, and manufacturing
