About the Role

You will lead the Mobile AI engineering team, focusing on enhancing Notion’s AI capabilities for mobile devices. Your responsibilities include defining the roadmap for key mobile AI features like chat, capture, agent workflows, workspace Q&A, and lightweight creation flows. You will also ensure these features are reliable and performant, and contribute to the broader technical foundation needed for cross-platform development.

What You'll Achieve

• Define and evolve the roadmap for Notion’s core mobile AI surfaces.
• Take new mobile AI ideas from concept to shipped product, leveraging prototypes, user feedback, and product data to guide development.
• Improve the production quality of mobile AI by addressing instrumentation gaps, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks.
• Help the team build robust technical foundations for seamless integration across mobile, web, and server environments.

Skills You'll Need to Bring

• Engineering Leadership: Experience managing engineering teams and shipping high-quality products at scale.
• Hands-On Technical Leadership: Ability to guide architecture, performance, reliability, and release-quality decisions and contribute to code when necessary.
• AI Product Curiosity: Hands-on experience with AI tools and a keen interest in how AI impacts product development, engineering workflows, and user expectations.
• Execution Through Ambiguity: Capability to transform open-ended product ideas into clear strategies, staffing plans, and successful deliveries.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Effective collaboration across various functions to define problems and deliver polished solutions.
• People Leadership: Recruitment, coaching, and growth of engineers, fostering an inclusive team environment, and clear communication in challenging situations.

Nice to Haves

• Led Teams Building AI Product Experiences: Experience leading teams in developing AI-driven product experiences involving streaming UX, multimodal input, evaluation loops, or reliability guardrails.
• Managed Teams Through 0→1 Product Development: Experience managing teams through the initial stages of product development and rapid iteration on new product surfaces.
• Experience with Mobile Platform Concerns: Knowledge of mobile platform challenges such as offline resilience, real-time collaboration, rich-text editing, and performance optimization.
• Delivered End-to-End Product Experiences: Experience delivering comprehensive product solutions across mobile, web, and server boundaries.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role in New York City is $215,000 - $255,000 per year. Notion values diverse perspectives and encourages applications from candidates who might not meet all the listed requirements but are excited about the role.
