Engineering Manager, Mobile AI
Who We Are
We are Notion, a collaborative AI workspace designed to help teams and agents work together more effectively. Our mission is to provide a single platform where all aspects of work—knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools—are integrated seamlessly. Millions of users rely on Notion for their daily tasks, from idea capture to project management.
About the Role
You will lead the Mobile AI engineering team, focusing on developing AI features for Notion’s mobile applications. Your responsibilities include defining the roadmap for core mobile AI features like chat, capture, agent workflows, workspace Q&A, and lightweight creation flows. You will also ensure these features are reliable and performant, and you will help establish the necessary technical foundations for rapid development across mobile, web, and server environments.
What You'll Achieve
- Define and evolve the roadmap for Notion’s core mobile AI surfaces.
- Take new mobile AI ideas from concept to shipped product, guided by prototypes, user feedback, and product data.
- Improve the production quality of mobile AI by addressing instrumentation gaps, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks.
- Help the team build the right technical foundations for fast iteration across mobile, web, and server boundaries.
Skills You'll Need to Bring
- Engineering leadership: Experience managing engineering teams and shipping high-quality products at scale.
- Hands-on technical leadership: Ability to guide architecture, performance, reliability, and release-quality decisions and contribute to the team's success.
- AI product curiosity: Interest in AI tools and a willingness to explore how they impact product development, engineering workflows, and user expectations.
- Execution through ambiguity: Capability to transform open-ended product ideas into clear strategies, staffing plans, and delivery timelines.
- People leadership: Skills in recruiting, coaching, and growing engineers, fostering an inclusive team environment, and communicating effectively even in disagreement.
Nice to Haves
- Experience leading teams building AI product experiences involving streaming UX, tool use, voice or multimodal input, evaluation loops, or reliability guardrails.
- Experience managing teams through 0→1 product development or fast iteration on new product surfaces.
- Experience with mobile platform concerns such as offline resilience, real-time collaboration, rich-text editing, app performance, or release quality at scale.
- Experience delivering end-to-end product experiences across mobile, web, and server boundaries.
