Engineering Manager - Heavy Civil
Relocation authorized: National - Family. This is a part-time telework position requiring at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor.

Bechtel's Infrastructure and Power business unit is involved with large-scale combined cycle projects, behind-the-meter gigawatt-scale microgrids for AI datacenters, and renewable energy projects including Solar, Wind, and Pumped Storage Hydro. This role is technically responsible for all complex projects within the Heavy Civil Sector, participating in project planning, proposal review, and owning the engineering elements of capital estimates. You will provide technical guidance to ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements within scope and budget, acting independently on engineering matters.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for projects and proposals under the Heavy Civil sector within the Infrastructure global business unit.
- Possess full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
- Participate in feed studies and provide engineering support to the business development team for prospective Heavy Civil strategies and project planning prior to proposals.
- Provide input and own the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution), including quantities and budgets.
- Review major changes or deviations in project scope, material quantities, budget, or schedule; assist in defining changes and obtaining accurate estimates.
- Engage and ensure engineering efforts, including KASE gate reviews, engineering audits with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), and Project Controls.
- Direct the preparation of project studies, reports, forecasts, special engineering reports, and plant data books.
- Establish engineering execution strategies, ensure compliance with company procedures, and lead technical assurance and design reviews.
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams, including staffing planning, succession planning, and subject-matter expert (SME) development.
- Manage critical interfaces between engineering and other functions.
- Oversee design development to ensure constructability, maintainability, value engineering, and lifecycle considerations.
- Represent engineering in executive reviews and client meetings.
- Support proposal development, technical evaluations, execution planning, and capital cost estimate development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and 20+ years of relevant experience, or 25+ years of relevant work experience.
- Previous Engineering Management experience with complex Heavy Civil projects; preferably EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) experience.
