About the role

Vanta's Core Platform team provides the foundational infrastructure that powers all engineering at Vanta. We're expanding upmarket to support enterprise customers, which requires strategic investment in platform systems that ensure security, reliability, and developer productivity at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow high-performing platform engineering teams that deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure and operational excellence for Vanta’s products and customers
  • Set technical direction and drive multi-quarter platform initiatives spanning infrastructure reliability, security, scalability, and developer experience across shared systems and services
  • Partner closely with product engineering, security, and engineering leadership to identify organizational needs
  • Translate ambiguous infrastructure challenges into clear roadmap priorities, and deliver scalable platform solutions
  • Design and evolve internal platforms, paved roads, and abstractions that enable product teams to ship independently, securely, and efficiently without deep infrastructure expertise
  • Establish strong engineering culture, operational standards, and ownership practices that empower teams across Vanta to build and operate healthy systems responsibly

Requirements

  • 5+ years managing platform or infrastructure teams at high-growth tech companies
  • Strong decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality
  • Track record of maintaining and scaling shared infrastructure in measurable, concrete ways
  • Participated in developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc) in a prior role
  • Prior experience managing complex, long-term projects that touch multiple teams and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Effective communicator and story-teller. Able to influence cross functional stakeholders and adjacent teams, and comfortable driving technical direction across teams without relying on direct authority
  • Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact
