Engineering Manager, Billing Products

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team within the Stripe Billing organization. In this role, you will manage a high-performing team of engineers and partner closely with product managers and other cross-functional leaders to shape the team’s strategy and roadmap. Responsibilities

• Partner closely with engineering leaders, product managers, and designers to shape the team’s strategy and roadmap
• Demonstrate strong first principles thinking when approaching complex problems and system design
• Foster a healthy team culture with a high level of trust and psychological safety
• Define processes that enable the team do its best work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Coach and mentor engineers on the team to help them advance in their careers and develop new skills
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team
• Work closely with Stripe’s recruiting team to hire strong engineering talent

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering management experience
• 8+ years of full time software development experience
• Consistent track record of hiring and leading productive engineering teams
• Nurtured healthy work environments that are supportive, challenging, diverse and inclusive
• Motivated to work in highly cross-functional organizations, with a strong ability to lead and measure product outcomes
• Leveraged strong technical background and hands-on experience in solving large scale and difficult technical problems
• Experience building extensible, leveraged software solutions that scale to different kinds of user needs
• Ability to thrive while operating with a high level of autonomy and responsibility

Qualifications

• Strong product and design sense, and enjoy finding elegant solutions to complex problems
• Built strong cross-team relationships that span organizational boundaries
• Experience building and leading a distributed team that works across multiple locations and time zones

Pay

The annual US base salary range for this role is $236,000 - $354,000.

Schedule

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss.
