Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Cook up and direct New Product Introduction projects, crafting detailed plans to achieve goals and overseeing the integration into manufacturing.
- Investigate new business ventures and compile cost estimates and technical proposals.
- Act as the go-to person for technical matters concerning customers, including New Product Introduction, non-conformances, and process variations.
- Analyze technologies, gauge their feasibility, and allocate resources to ensure timely and budget-friendly outcomes during project development in a complex manufacturing setting.
- Ensure consistency and reliability in project execution within a challenging manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality, and other departments to guarantee on-time delivery and quality for Engineering Group deliverables.
- Establish and maintain metrics to track performance against site goals and key performance indicators.
- Recruit, assign, direct, and evaluate staff, while also fostering their professional growth and maintaining competency.
- Create and manage the engineering department’s expense budget.
- Comply with Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with 7+ years of experience managing a multi-functional Engineering department.
- Six Sigma certification is preferred.
- Experience with CAD software such as Catia, SolidWorks, and Mastercam.
- Desirable knowledge of composite manufacturing, materials, processing techniques, and tooling concepts, as well as related aerospace standards (AS9100, NADCAP).
- Knowledge of injection molding and automation techniques, along with related aerospace standards (AS9100), is desirable.
- A strong grasp of manufacturing processes, including New Product Introduction and Continuous Improvement.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills for effective interactions with high-level customers and key personnel within the organization.
- Understanding of MRP/ERP and related manufacturing data systems, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong project management and meeting management skills, supported by effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow instructions in English.
- Must be a "US Person" (US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to comply with ITAR and EAR regulations.
- Must be able to wear and use required personal protective equipment.
- Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, and twisting; and the use of manual dexterity and other physical abilities necessary for safe and effective job performance.
