Actalent is partnering with a leading manufacturer in Harrisburg, PA to find an Engineering Manager who will provide both technical and team leadership for engineering operations.

About the role

This position oversees product development, electrical and controls engineering, technical support, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing support. The Engineering Manager leads new product development efforts, manages a team of engineers, and ensures products remain safe, reliable, code-compliant, manufacturable, and aligned with company growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and team leadership for engineering operations.
  • Oversee product development, electrical and controls engineering, technical support, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing support.
  • Lead new product development (NPD) efforts from concept through commercialization using Stage-Gate processes.
  • Manage a team of engineers to ensure products meet safety, reliability, and code compliance standards (e.g., ASME A17.1, ETL, CSA).
  • Support manufacturing, installation, service, and field troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Production, Purchasing, Service, Dealers, Customers, and Executive Leadership.
  • Manage engineering documentation, change requests (ECRs), bills of materials, manufacturing drawings, and installation manuals.
  • Train technical personnel, dealers, and customers on products and systems.
  • Resolve warranty or field service issues with strong customer-facing communication.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, Standard Work, Material Review Boards (MRBs), and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., Visual ERP), engineering documentation systems, and project management software.

Requirements

  • Expert-level experience in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or electromechanical engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical design, circuit board design, control systems, and product enhancements.
  • Experience with embedded controls, firmware, software integration, and automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME A17.1, ETL, CSA).
  • Experience leading Stage-Gate New Product Development (NPD) projects.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Standard Work, MRBs, and SCARs.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, installation, service, and field troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (particularly Visual ERP), engineering documentation, and project management software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills.
  • Strong leadership and customer-facing communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Elevator, lift, or electromechanical product manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

Pay

$125,000.00 – $150,000.00/yr. Individual compensation depends on qualifications, skills, experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.

Schedule

This is a permanent, fully onsite position based in Harrisburg, PA.
