Engineering Intern

About the role
As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support design and construction activities for substation and transmission-related projects. You will assist with tasks such as site layout, grading design, stormwater analysis, and permitting support. This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities for occasional site visits.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing civil design drawings and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support stormwater calculations and drainage design under supervision.
- Help coordinate survey data and contribute to site layout and grading plans.
- Participate in developing cost estimates and project documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and construction managers to ensure project goals are met.
- Perform basic research and prepare reports or presentations as needed.
- Attend team meetings and learn about design-build delivery methods.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Completed coursework in civil engineering fundamentals (e.g., site design, hydraulics).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software (coursework experience acceptable).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.
