Engineering Intern

About the role

As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you will help shape systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably—designing resilient highways, iconic bridges, transit, rail, aviation, ports, and marine infrastructure. Your work will support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable communities, and quality of life while collaborating with planners, engineers, architects, construction managers, environmental specialists, economists, and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Gain real‑world experience on exciting transportation projects.
• Connect with recent college graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs.
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years completed toward a degree with a 3.0+ GPA.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to your field of study or industry.
