Engineering Intern
About the role
Blackbird is seeking exceptional full stack engineering interns for Summer 2026. This role involves shipping production code used by real restaurants and diners, not sandboxed projects. Interns will gain hands-on experience across the stack and real exposure to a fast-moving product team.
Note: This role requires in-office presence in New York City and relocation costs are not covered.
What You'll Do
- Build and iterate on features across our web and mobile surfaces
- Help debug flows that span our terminal, mobile app, and backend services
- Write code that runs in real restaurant environments with real consequences
- Contribute to architecture conversations and learn how we make decisions
What We're Looking For
- Coursework or project experience with React and TypeScript
- Familiarity with async data patterns (REST, WebSockets, or similar)
- Comfortable asking questions, moving fast, and owning your work in a small team
Nice to Haves
- Any exposure to payments, fintech, or hospitality tech
- Interest in how software works under hardware and network constraints
Pay Transparency Notice
