About the role
The City of Lansing Public Service Department is seeking a full-time Engineer to join our dedicated team. The primary focus of this position is on transportation projects, including traffic signals, non-motorized facilities, traffic control, signage, and traffic calming.
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles to public works projects including streets, sewers, bridges, trails/pathways, sidewalks, and traffic signals.
- Use skills in project, construction, and personnel management to assist in performing essential duties.
- Assist in managing and inspecting public infrastructure projects.
- Prepare clear and concise written reports and maintain complex record systems.
- Interpret and explain technical plans, procedures, regulations, and codes.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field.
- Experience: Engineer I (36) years, Engineer II (38) years, Engineer III (40) years.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering principles, geotechnical engineering, drafting, mapping, surveying, and project management.
- Proficiency in computer and software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, CAD applications, and engineering-specific programs.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and explain technical plans and procedures.
